Cocoa & Milk, Leichhardt

Cocoa & Milk in Leichhardt

Recently renovated and revamped, Cocoa & Milk in Leichhardt is one café on Norton St worth a visit. With a new owner and a bigger menu to boot, this espresso bar has locals flocking to have sneak peek.

Yung Kim, who also owns Bistro Meme in Gladesville, took over the reigns from Italian Leichhardt locals last month and has given the café a major makeover. Cocoa & Milk has been given a fresh coat of paint and now has a greater selection of food with a focus on homemade food, stews and salads. It’s also reasonably priced and won’t break the bank.

The café is certainly homely; a cosy, white terrace house with an outdoor terrace, a seamless spot for alfresco dining. Inside the café, small pot-plants hang artistically off the walls and there’s a handy space where regulars can peg their loyalty cards – good news for the forgetful.

Cocoa & Milk still serves the dishes locals came to love such as the cheese and spinach burek ($10.50), bacon and egg roll ($5.00) and a selection of baguette sandwiches. New additions include a hearty winter stew served in a bread bowl, classic beef bourguignon ($15.50) and salads like the pickled beetroot, goat cheese and walnut salad ($11.50). Cocoa & Milk serves certified organic Giancarlo coffee for $3.50 and a range of T2 teas as well.

Despite the name, however, there’s no speciality hot chocolate – a big miss on their part for sure.
